About Me

Hello! I'm David Sidwell. I'm the Program Director at the American West Heritage Center, where I plan activities and events for visitors. So if you come and you have fun, it's partially my fault! I'm also lucky to have good staff who help me in many ways.

I'm also an adjuct professor at Utah State University, where I was a full time professor and Director of the Theatre Education Program for 11 years. In short, my specialty there was children's theatre and teaching teachers how to use drama in the classrom. One of my favorite courses to teach in this capacity is Storytelling and other oral language arts classes, of course!

As you can imagine, I'm also a storyteller. I've told stories all over the U.S. from California to New York, Minnesota to Georgia. I've told stories at storytelling festivals, conferences, family reunions, business parties, and more. It's fun!

I'm also a photographer. You can see my photos all over this site, and if they tantalize you, please visit my main photo site. You can also find my photos on TrekEarth.com, where I share my part of the world through photography, and Digital Photography Challenge, a competitive site where I'm a member of the Site Council.

I am also very lucky to be involved in Utah Festival Opera's Opera for Children program, where I am a curriculum consultant and drama specialist. It's been a real privilege to work with this wonderful organization!

I have a lovely wife and four kids, and they are all great storytellers!

I often help my wife with her business, LightstreamMedia. She does sound recording and also CD and DVD transfer and duplication. She also works as a faculty member for Cache Children's Choir. I'm on the Choir's Parent Board.

My other hobbies are hiking, reading, organic heirloom gardening, and hanging out with my family.
